Much more Extra@

A friendly watcher Trenaya brought to my attention of plenty hotties on Extr@ and the other versions other than English and French like German and Spanish. I was surpised to know that Lawerence Ray has played Sam in the Spanish and German version. That must be a lot of work.

Also Javier Marzan who plays Hector in English also played Pablo, the Nick character for Spanish.

While Nic in the German version has been played Frank Brunet. I had never seen either of these series because the channel I see this at is Spanish and has no reason for showing a show that teaches Spanish and they have yet to add German to the curriculum.

Here is a bit of Frank Brunet...

Rambling about Y-100 Dumb DJ

I know lots of International surfers read this but this is local, once again. I use this blog to just shoot off. I was listening to Y-100, a local radio station and I dunno what DJ it was but it was a guy and he said and I quote, "Ne-yo is still denying that he is you know.. (effeminate voice) Ne-yo." It is so uncalled for. He couldn't just say, 'that he was gay.' That was so immature but what the hell do I expect anyway from ignorant idiots.

Buffy's back!!! sort of...

For ya'll 'watchers' that have been under a rock, Joss Whedon has been planning a comic book on Buffy's adventures after the series, like a 'season 8.' On the latest TV Guide, there is an exclusive picture above. The comic is being released by Dark House of course. Pieces from interviews, Buffy will be in a relationship with the Immortal (Angel season 5 "The Girl in Question"). Whedon reveals that there will be a few Angel favorite characters including Buffyverse characters. He can work at a grand scale now and be around the which is exactly where everyone is. Buffy is leading an assault team of Slayers, above I don't see any familiar characters. I am so excited, I'm so going to get an issue. There is 25 to 30 planned issues and he will write 8 and writers from the show will do the rest. It will be launched in MARCH 2007.

Let's see.. if a regular TV season is 22 episodes long and this starts several months after the Hellmouth's destruction, then it might not be set right when Angel and Co took over the Los Angeles offices of Wolfharm and Hart. So it must be 2003 or 2004. We'll see...

Futurama's Biggest Score

And according to Billy West (Fry, Professor, Zapp, etc.) , there will be two movies. The second hasn't be confrimed yet.

Latino Power Rangers

As you may know by now, I cover a lot about Power Rangers. The Power Rangers are known for their diversity, especially after their faux pas with the Yellow and Black Rangers in the first season. There is a site called The Asian Pacific American Toy Chest that profiles most of the Asian-American Power Rangers, well until 2001. They display the Asian-Americans through the years, I think it also should be good to display the recent surge of Latinos. Some thanks to Disney, since Disney took over in 2003 there has been a Latino in every season. Basically Hispanics have been every color under the sun. Curiously, since they film New Zealand there is not an African-American or Asian-American in each series.

Rocky De Santos (Steve Cardenas)
Second Red Mighty Morphin' Ranger / Blue Zeo Ranger
Not officially Hispanic but once the series became Power Rangers Zeo, it was discovered that Rocky had a Mexican grandfather (through the mini-series Alien Rangers). In a holiday episode, he let everyone know about his family's tradition of having a Navidad Pinata. The actor is of half-Mexican descent.

Carlos Valerte (Roger Velasco)
Green Ranger / Black Ranger
Series: Power Rangers Turbo, Power Rangers in Space
Carlos was the first Hispanic who I consider all official because he is Hispanic and the character is as well. He was a very positive character, teaching soccer to kids and was concerned about his teammates.

Cole Evans (Ricardo Medina Jr.)
Red Ranger
Series: Power Rangers Wild Force
The actor is of Puerto-Rican heritage but it never was specified that he was Latino. He was a jungle boy who eventually discovered found out who his parents were, they were killed by the main villain. His parents were seemingly Caucasian but fans still consider him the first and only Hispanic leader.

Danny Delgado (Jack Guzman)
Black Ranger
Series: Power Rangers Wild Force
Danny was a sweet and shy young man. His last name and appearance alluded to that he was Hispanic and the actor is indeed Hispanic. After five years, there finally was another Hispanic character.

Blake Bradley (Jorgito Vargas Jr.)
Navy Thunder Ranger
Series: Power Rangers Ninja Storm
Jorgito's name is often hard for non-Spanish speaking fans to pronounce but I'm pretty used to saying it because it is my father's name. Even though they haven't out and said he was Hispanic but when asked how he and his Caucasian brother were related and they just stared at them and then relied that they were clearly adopted. Nothing about his birth parents or heritage was mentioned. He and his brother opposed the good rangers but it was because they thought their mentor was responsible for their aodptive parent's death.

Trent Fernandez (Jeffrey Parazzo)
White Dino Ranger
Series: Power Rangers Dino Thunder
Trent was also adopted, but by a man with a Jekyll/Hyde deal but no mention of his heritage. He kept his Hispanic last name. The actor is Canadian, it is not known if he is of Hispanic or Philippines hertiage. Did I forget to mention that he was an evil ranger but was under the influence of the power of his morpher and a villain. Sound familiar?

Elizabeth "Z" Delgado (Monica May)
Yellow Ranger
Series: Power Rangers S.P.D.
Even though it is overlooked that Z and her 'brother' African-American best friend Jack were first thief's that later redeemed themselves as police officers, Z is of strong character and a dependable friend. It is only alluded to her heritage in her last name and also when Jack imitated her with a 'latina' accent. She is the first Hispanic female in Power Rangers.

Vida Rocca (Angie Diaz)
Pink Ranger
Series: Power Rangers Mystic Force
The actress is from down under but of Hispanic ancestry, her character's last name is Hiapnic and sometimes says 'chica.' She is one of two sisters, being a first of two Latinas in a series. Vida nicknamed 'V' loves to DJ and very outgoing and stubborn, she has a color highlight on her hair that changes in almost every episode. It has been white, red, pink, yellow, blue, green, and gold.

Madison Rocca (Melanie Vallejo)
Blue Ranger
Series: Power Rangers Mystic Force
She is an unique lovable character that is caring, a bit of introvert that wants to change and please people. She first also with a video camera but that quickly dissolved as the series got into its major story arc.

UPDATED 3/27/08
Rose Ortiz (Rhoda Montemayor)
Pink Ranger
Series: Power Rangers Operation Overdrive
She is a Mensa level genius who a library-like brain. The only allusion to her heritage was her father's lucky Mexican-like sombrero (straw hat) she gave to Mac for luck. The actress is of Filipino heritage.

The new series Jungle Fury has no Hispanic ranger.

Tyler Hansbrough
He's 21, Hansbrough finished second to Duke's JJ Redick in ACC Player of the Year.

He's 6'9" and weighs 235 pounds. Nicknamed "Psycho T" by his teammates. UNC fans know Hansbrough for his zealous and combative play.

David Wenham
41 year old Australian. He may be a bit known but I bet you he is not a household name in the U.S.

He was considered a sex sumbol on the Australian Broadcasting Network's second season SeaChange.

He is best known as Faramir in the last two Lord of the Rings.

He did the Crocodile Hunter movie and Wenham read a poem by Rupert McCall at the memorial service for Crocodile Hunter Steve Irwin. The poem was entitled "The Crocodiles are Crying".

Rob and Big?

I rarely watch MTV but I was flipping through and found this peculiar reality series about skater Rob Dyrdek and his bodyguard/best friend "Big Black" and its just plain wierd. They are so close and they have a pitbull son named Meaty. Rob (who is kinda cute for a wigger) is 32 and acts like a twenty-something slacker, most pro skaters act like overgrown kids or dress like it. When they go to Ohio to visit his family, he tells Big that everyone will think they are superstars but it happens to be just little girls asking for Avril Lavigne. Sometimes you feel sorry for Black and how lame his charge can be, for example trying endlessly to teach his dog Meaty to skate with no resolve. But it is still better than the umpteenth episode of Laguna Bitches.

Benoit Magimel Eye Candy

He is famous thirty-two year old French actor.

I used not really be in Frenchmen but now have a new love for them.

Happy Feet Review

When I saw the commercials for Happy Feet I thought it was going to be cutie penguins dancing, which still happened but its a classic 'there's something wrong with our child, circle peg in a square world.' It is a great story and hiralous. My best friend who barely laughs, laughed out loud a bunch of times throughout the film. It is the first effort from Warner Bros., produced in Australia by Village Roadhouse and directed by George Miller who co-wrote Babe and directed the sequel, he wrote and directed the Mad Max movies. This movie has real life songs, mostly Elvis and 70 disco songs and wonderfully mixed and not so annoying than say, that Xena Musical. The story bascially is that all the emperor penguins sing and Mumble (named by his lady love Gloria when they were little) dances and can't sing. He doesn't fit in and is eventually kicked out the clan and he goes out to find 'the aliens' who seem to be responsible for the fish drought.

Mumble is voiced by Elijah Wood and T.G. Daily as a baby, his adult form looks like a overgrown form of his baby form. Britney Murphy shows off her singing skills as Gloria and Robin Williams plays two characters (eek but actually good) Ramon, one of Mumble's Latino friends and Lovelace, a puffed up 'guru' who chokes through half the movie with his neck stuck in one of those soda can rings. Steve Irwin plays a elephant seal and the movie is dedicated to him. There are parts that surprisingly pass through this PG movie like gyrating and a mention of possible suicide. The movie is deliciously dark, in one sequence Mumble is stuck in a zoo and all alone and goes crazy. Then we zoom out extremely out of the Earth with eerie music which is a pastiche of a sequence from 2001: A Space Odyssey, symbolic of the now conquered state of Mumble. There is one part that you think it's going to end with him chasing a ship endlessly. Also, the humans are a mix of live-action and CGI. They start out wiht CG but slowly dissolve into real life people.

Gears of War Commercial: Name that song

You know that song about 'familar faces' in the commercial for the XBOX 360's Gears of War?

Well it is a cover of Tears for Fear's "Mad World" by Gary Jules and Michael Andrews for the film Donnie Darko in 2001.

Yes... I've been watching too many commercials. Well, I just wonder, find out and tell you.
