The Success of Nick Jonas vs Joe Jonas

With Nick Jonas' noted success (high record selling, concerts, multiple public appearances, club appearances, popular TV shows and hot photoshoots), I decided to compare it to his older brother's short-lived solo career. In the United States, the three Jonas Brothers sold the most records with "A Little Bit Longer" by $2,082,000 in 2008. Their last record "Lines, Vines and Trying Times" got $757,000. Joe Jonas' solo album "Fastlife" made $45,000 in 2011 while Nick Jonas' solo album "Nick Jonas" $182,000 in 2014. He also had an album in 2005 but I don't have the numbers there.

His first single "See No More" charted at Number 92 in the US in 2011. But the highest number he charted with that single was in U.S. Pop at number 37 and 53 in the UK. My theory in why he failed was his single was just not catchy, just boring. "Just In Love" toed the line of ‘adult’ representation regarding sex, which everybody notices, he slyly introduces a more grown-up aesthetic in the background. An official remix of the track features a verse from Lil Wayne and slightly altered production. It received a Parental Advisory sticker for this because of the explicit lyrics Lil Wayne raps. The video and song didn't get much airplay in the U.S. Also, I think what plagues him is the constant gay rumors, which he refutes and which kills his gay audience. Also, his history with women, especially Taylor Swift who infamously was dumped by him in a short telephone conversation. Even though this happened years ago (2008), it was still fresh when he did solo (2011) but now he laughs about it (2015). And he also broke up with Demi Levato before her breakdown.
His first single from "Nick Jonas" called "Jealous" charted at 1 in Dance Pop in the US. Overall it charted at 7 in the US. In the UK, it made number 2. "Chains" was also 1 in Dance Pop US and number 13 in the U.S. overall. I think his success stems from a multimedia attack (TV, movies, music, award shows, photoshoots). He embraced his gay fan base by touring gay bars. In the show "Kingdom," he also played a closeted gay boxer and he has done slight nudity (butt). He also hit the kid market by hosting Nickelodeon's Kid Choice Awards. His two singles are very catchy and he has also touched heart strings with his diabetes and ability to keep physically fit. Nick Jonas is much more charming and disarming than Joe Jonas who might come off more stuck-up and careless.

Taylor Kinney and Lady Gaga

Taylor Kinney is model/actor that I first saw in my Men and Motorcycles calendar back in 2007. He has been since in a MyNetwork show Fashion Show, on a NBC series Trauma and CW series Vampire Dairies as a werewolf.  He is 31 and she is 25. Kinney studied business management at West Virginia University before catching a taste for the theater. I hope this lasts, he sure is a hottie. But alas, Lady Gaga's romances don't last long. At least she has some sweet arm candy for a while that doesn't look like a grungy rat.

About Rebecca Black

When I first heard of Rebecca Black, I saw the Katy Petty music video "TGIF" and I didn't know who she was. I thought she was like one of those rich people who are famous for not being famous, like the Kardashans or something. But tonight watching Dateline Primetime, I find out she was just a YouTube breakout and 13. I didn't even know she was 13!!! I thought she was like 21 or something. Say what you say about Rebecca Black, I found out she has gotten a lot of flack and death threats. That is just wrong. First the machine makes kids want fame and then when they get it it feels like a punishment. Why can't we be happy for people? They really are jealous people. I don't care if she has talent or not, there is a reason we are talking about her, like her fame ride itself out. She's 13 for god's sake, she is still a kid, just a kid. If you think she is untalented, then go ahead and do the same and see if you will get the same fame. So yeah basically this is my written 'leave Britney Spears alone.'

Jem Inspired T-Shirts and Keytars

WeLoveFine.com, the website of LA-based t-shirt imprint Mighty Fine are now working with Hasbro on a line of retro-inspired JEM apparel. Here are the first two shirts, which are in part inspired by the 80's fashion art of Patrick Nagel; we've got Jem in her classic look, as well Stormer, since she seems to still be the most popular Misfit.

In early 1970s, Edgar Winter often performed with keyboards slung around his neck, but they were not technically keytars because they had no "neck." Keytars (Keyboards and Guitars combined) started becoming famous in the 80's, and all us 80's kids know them best from Jem. In the toyline Kimber had a keytar but in the cartoon she had a keyboard. Stormer had a keytar on the show but not in the toyline. I remember keytars most from Jem. Keytars faded with more advanced technology in keyboards and synthesizers but they have become more sophisticated nowadays with a recent resurgence in use, especially from Lady Gaga.

Dire Straits - Money For Nothing -- Homophobic??!

I grew up with the Dire Straits - Money For Nothing song that came out in 1985 and loved the 'I want MTV' line and loved the music video--one of the firsts to use computer graphics. If you don't know, this is the song that says 'Microwave ovens' and 'I want my MTV.' But I listened it today on the radio (103.5 FM) and my dad thought it was a remix and it was actual the original song because it says 'faggot.' I was shocked to hear the word 'faggot' on the radio. I was shocked but yeah, this song has been controversial for years, for it being homophobic, sexist and more other stuff.

Lady Gaga - Judas -- That Aint' Stephen Dorff -- It's Norman Reedus

"I like the lipstick part, because that was sort of last minute," the "Walking Dead" star said. "She just jumped up [and was like], 'I have this great idea. I'm gonna put lipstick in front of you, and right before you kiss Jesus, I'm going to pull out this gun, and I'm gonna pull the trigger, and then a lipstick's [gonna come out], and then I'm going to put it on you like I'm enabling the kiss!'

Many people think the dude in the video is Stephen Dorff ("Blade") but he was in the second Blade: Blade II and the Walking Dead. "My reaction when I saw it? I was excited to see my motorcycle in it first off, 'cause that's my bike that I ride, and I thought it was really good," he said. "I thought that [co-director] Laurieann [Gibson] did a really good job and Gaga did a good job, and I know there's a lot of work put into it, and I could see all the work on the screen, so I liked it."

I love Norman Reedus, he is an awesome actor and awesome guy and has never got his credit where credit is due. Sorry guys, he has a wife and kids and straight, but still cool. Now a pressing question, who played Jesus?

He is Rick Gonzalez of Coach Carter and short-lived CW series "Repaer."

Justice - Cilivization in Adidas Commercial

Justice's new song 'Civilization' is in new Adidas ads here in America and I swear it sounds like they were saying 'The beating of Megatron.' But here is the real lyric:

The beating of a million drums.
The fire of a million guns.
The mother of a million sons.

American Idol: 2 Judges?

So Simon Cowell (off to X-Factor) is out, so is Ellen Degeneres (too busy) and the other lady (Kara Dioguardi was fired). Also Jennifer Lopez is out, her demands reportedly was too much. So now it is Randy Jackson and Steven Tyler? Steven Tyler has reportedly been latched as the new judge. But since Elton John refused to be a judge and Jennifer Lopez wasn't even their third or fourth choice, I think they shouldn't have fired Kara, cause who are they are going to get as a third judge? But of course, like non-American Idol fans say, "Who the Hell Cares?"

David Archuleta, a litlte mixed up

What day and age are we in that a young man has to explain what he is doing at a gay club. It is just a club, where people dance and sing and make out, just like any other club. When people found out David Archuleta, former American Idol contestant, went to a gay club. He had to defend it on his Twitter account. “Last night in New York I got invited to go and see my friend Charice perform. Mental note to self: always ask where before you go! Wasn’t my kind of place lol, and I had no clue! I guess you live and learn. The upside was that Charice was awesome, and she has an incredible voice.” I find it hilarious that he had to ask before it was a gay club, like as if it was a place to avoid. Plenty of male celebrities, including Justin Timberlake have gone to gay clubs without problems and still remaining their heterosexuality in tact. But of course, Archuleta is a mormon and young and apparently ignorant. He said 'Wasn't my kind of place.'

Now, he said the twitter comments by others were inappropriate. I agree, they were homophobic. I don't believe Archuleta is gay or closeted, I do believe he might be a bit ignorant to gay culture. And it is not his fault. It is because there isn't any proper education about LGBT people and everything is word of mouth and guesses.

I discover the Skelanimals

At Target stores, they are featuring these cutie Skelanimals. The copyright says 2008, I guess they have been around for a while. There is clothing and stuff animals. Art Impressions' site says that their demo is pre-teens, collectors, Girls 6-13 and chridren ages 4-6. The Keep the Party Alive - EP is an EP by the Rock/Crunk band Family Force 5 that is exclusive to the store Target to promote the Halloween merchandise for Skelanimals. This EP was announced on the band's MySpace and by their premium fan club on September 9th which included a CGI promo video with the band's song "Keep the Party Alive" playing during it. What is disturbing is their stories on how they became Skelanimals.

Sample poem:
Kit had a head bigger than her body.
The laughs she endured rang all through the lobby.
Looking at the pool she would see her reflection.
Wishful thinking for her water friend connection.
She slipped and fell as she looked nearer.
No more laughter and jokes would she hearrr….

Aqua's "Barbie Girl" song used for actual Barbie commercials

Back when the "Barbie Girl" song came out by Aqua in the late 90's, Mattel was mad and sued them, but Aqua won. The song said stuff like "undress me everywhere" and "plastic bimbo girl." So now Mattel is using their own version of the song for their commercials and also for the Pink Ticket contest promos. They only use the parts that say "come on Barbie, let's go party" and they change the lyrics to match with the Pink Ticket stuff. It turns out that it was no fluke. Barbie Senior Vice President of Marketing, Stephanie Cota says. “Yes, there’s an interesting history with Mattel and Aqua. But one of the things that’s great about Barbie is that she’s had 50 years to figure herself out. ” The song “is such the epitome of Barbie. It’s a fun, kicky upbeat song,” she added. “We’ve re-written the lyrics ever so slightly. There’s a bit of girl empowerment that gets infused in there.”

Good Sport Jonas

After the 2008 MTV VMAs (which was boring by the way) host Russell Brand took a shot at the Jonas Brothers for their purity rings, the teen sensations were asked about it by the BBC. Nick Jonas said, “For us it’s cool to see that he recognizes we are gentleman.” Brand also apologized to the trio after the remarks after the event. Kevin also added, “We had a lot of friends there and everybody’s so nice. We had a good time!” Despite the verbal jabs, Nick complimented Brand on his hosting job saying, “I think he did a good job. We saw him on Conan O’Brien and thought he was hilarious.” The Jonas Brothers were good sports all together, Jordin Sparks and Paris Hilton stood up for them, but the media is making it as if Jordin is 'retailtating' towards Russell and she just said it was respectable for the Brothers to stand up for what belive in. Paris said, "I don’t pick on them. That’s something cool for a kid to keep, so don’t pick on them for that." to US Weekly. And besides, Russell wasn't making fun that they were virigins, just saying how ironic it was that how many tail they could be getting if they are rock stars.
