Did I just see Porn on Adult Swim?

Last night, I was about to turn off the television when I stumbled upon... porn on Adult Swim? I kept waiting for the punch line but there was no punch line, which happens sometimes on live-action Adult Swim programming. I only stayed up for a half an hour after Midnight, then a Tim and Eric Segment started, I am not a Tim and Eric fan, so I turned off the TV because I was sleepy. Today I find out this was brought on by Tim and Eric. It was actually a movie that aired on and on until 5:30am called "The Room" directed and starring Tommy Wiseau. It was a pretty soft-core porn, about Lisa (Juliette Danielle) who is to marry Tommy's character Johnny but has jitters and has sexual encounters with other men. Basically her bare breasts are covered with a big black box and sometimes the boxes got bigger and moved around for comedic effect. Even Tommy's ass was covered! There was a real hot guy there... Greg Sestero.

Two clips on Adult Swim

Someone on Wikipedia says:
After a brief run in Los Angeles, the film went on to develop a cult following in the city, because of its perceived unintentional humor. It continues to have monthly midnight screenings. Wiseau promotes the film as a black comedy and insists that the “unintentional” humor is intentional, although audience members generally doubt this. On April 1, 2009, the movie aired on Adult Swim at midnight and 2:30am EDT as the programming service's annual April Fool's joke.

Fat Guy Stuck in the Labyrinth

Fat Guy Stuck in the Internet parodies Jim Henson/David Bowe's The Labyrinth and it is hilarious. I thought it would could half-ass in the parody but it kept going into it, it could have done cheap gay jokes but they did good. Also, with the puppets and the songs. They had bad puppets, I don't they were making fun of Henson's puppets but more making fun of their own cheapness. I am trying to figure out with one are the favorite dancers... the purple unicorn guy or the yellow lizard. I cant believe it but they even parodied the mirrorball dancing scene and put Gamberling in a dress and makeup. I am not crazy about this show Fat Guy but this episode was pretty funny and good. Thank god they didn't have the big brown good heart monster or the troll. Oh and of course Gamberling smashed the mirror and heh heh they found the warehouse of the set.

New Venture Bros Season Three so far

We have been waiting desperately for Season Three of the Venture Brothers and it exceeds all expectations. The new season started June 1st and so far there has been 6 episodes. For those who don't know this show, it airs on Adult Swim on the Cartoon Network and it is a parody/homage comedy/adventure series with its own extensive mythology. It stars Dr. Rusty Venture, a former adventurer boy who can't get out of the shadow of his super scientist father and is not much a successful scientist. He has two teenage excitable sons Hank and Dean. Their bodyguard is Brock Samson, makes everyone fear him and can kill anyone. Brock is 'strong, but silent'-type and a hair-trigger temper.

"Shadowman 9: In the Cradle of Destiny"
It starts out as a continuation of the 2-part season two finale. The Monarch and Dr. Girlfriend are taken by the mysterious Guild of Calamitous Intent and interrogated about Phantom Limb. It is an awesome love letter to the two characters, have great gags and pay-offs. It has some flashbacks that continue the mythology and establishes the theme of the third season.

"The Doctor Is Sin"
As the Monarch is no longer the arch villain of Dr. Venture, a bunch of people are trying to take the spot. Dr. Henry Killinger comes in and cleans up the place, giving Venture a new look and big crew. Although, in the end this is a plot for him to begin 'arching' his brother Jonas Junior. It is an awesome episode with a unique twist and everyone is in love with the character of Killinger.

"The Invisible Hand of Fate"
We are finally served up the origin of not only Quiz Boy (Billy), but also Phantom Limb. This episode ties up many characters together, but it does feel rushed. For me, this episode could have been a movie, maybe a straight-to-dvd since it isn't about the main characters but nevertheless. The picture to the left has Colonel Hunter Gathers of OSI in drag, as he later had a sex change to become a woman.

The first three episodes feel like vintages or mini-movies.

"Home is Where the Hate is"
The Monarch and Doctor Girlfriend have moved into Phantom Limb's former home, a gated community for supervillains. Sergeant Hatred throws a villain party, in which the Ventures go to as well. There are so delightful gags such as playing a 'guess your identity' game and Dr. Girlfriend didn't know she was Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis. Nice gags but not entirely memorable.

"The Buddy System"
Rusty tries to build on his fame of a show he did when he was a kid to have a daycamp of adventuring. I feel this episode mostly served as the introduction to the possibility that new character Dermott Fictel (who Hank befriends) is Brock's son. But has hilarious moments such as The Order of the Triad do a 'rap' of safety.

"Dr. Quymn, Medicine Woman"
A wonderful episode. It had to happen some time, the main four characters are served their female counterparts and it is obvious the writers worked real hard to define these characters. Funny enough, Rusty thinks his old childhood pal Tara Quymn's bodyguard Ginny is a man. Ginny is an interesting complex character, never being with a man, she is a flood of emotions with Brock. Of course, Hank and Dean are served twins Drew and Nancy and a love triangle occurs. Also, Tara is Col. Gentleman's step-daughter. And her picture was seen in a previous episode: "Home is Where the Hate is."

"The Buddy System" and "Dr. Quymn, Medicine Woman" both go back into the spirit of the regular past 'fun' episodes, while the first three have a completely different feel.

Pick your Battles... Lucy, daughter of the devil

It is surprising what the Christian Rite chooses to 'rabble rabble' (fight) about. Usually when something on television upsets them, they boycott it. "Lucy, Daughter of the Devil," a computer-animation series that started a few weeks before on Adult Swim has plenty to get upset about. It is sort funny, some parts of it is hit or miss. There is plenty to get upset about. It is about the Devil, his daughter Lucy and Jesus is a DJ. Satan has a Devil's Advocate called Becky with is a woman with a skull head and hair. Jesus is referred to as DJ J and in one episode, a dildo is made of him and in tonight's episode, he writes a book about having a relationship with Lucy and kisses women he auditions. Satan has a club, Lucy is the bartender and their relationship is like the typical father and twenty-something daughter relationship. He wants to be proud of her. Satan wears Cosby sweaters and basically considers his 'work' as actual work. Jesus is portrayed as a 'cool guy,' a little out of it. I don't think Lucy and Jesus' relationship was shown, maybe I wasn't paying attention. In the show, there is also a 'comic relief' goofy group of a priest and a man-ish nun. The show is just absurd.

Robot Chicken Star Wars Review

Tonight Cartoon Network/Adult Swim ran a special about Star Wars-theme Robot Chicken, a half-hour long.

I thought it was going to mostly clips but in truth, it had a lot of new ones, sprinkled with old clips (Darth Vader spoiling everything for Luke, George W. Bush dreaming he is a Jedi). Some that are great are Yar-Yar Binks bugging Darth Vader, alien strip club, Death Star general telling the others to pretend Darth Vader strangles them, Boba Fett pretending he is fighting with Han Solo (when he was a trophy at Jaba the Hutt's place.) and then gets romantic, and background story on the guy in the Cantina that Obi-Wan cut his arm off in Episode 4. One part I really really love was with that worm monster that couldn't get the Millennium Falcon--another one comes about and it is hilarious, I love that they have British accents and I believe one of them is Seth Green. Some are hit or miss like Luke Skywalker and the Emperor doing a 'Your mama' battle or a scene with Luke when he blew up the Death Star and wants to call his uncles and realizes the facts. Also, George Lucas did a guest voice as himself.

Best April's Fool Prank Ever

This is what it is currently on Wikipedia and I beleive will change after this:

Adult Swim began running ads beginning on March 25, 2007 advertising the television premiere of the movie the following Sunday, April 1. Their only reasoning behind this stunt, as stated in the ad, was, "[because we're ****ing crazy]". While Adult Swim's TV listings on their website state the movie will be shown, other TV listings are reporting the same Sunday block, making it apparent that it's probably going to be an April Fools prank. Adult Swim has made pranks before in the past couple years including placing fart sounds intercut with anime shows and using VHS fansubs for the first season of Perfect Hair Forever.

So what they did was actually show the regular programming but the movie in a small tiny square, smaller than the Comedy Central logo. They did show about three minutes of the movie and then went to Futurama at 10pm. Also, big 'crawlers' come through the screen with annoying animals, monsters and characters tell you that you are watching the movie. No one believed they would show the actual movie in its entirety and knew something had to be awry if it was going to be on April 1st. I got to admit this is clever and by having those annoying different crawlers. they steal my heart.

MORE TO COME AS THIS ENSUES.

Cartoon Network pays for bomb scare

I am sure plenty have blogged about this but it is just how apparant how our country is so un-savvy to believe this lite brite-like Moonaite (character from Agua Teen Hunger Force) could possible be a terrorist bomb scare. And now, Turner broadcasting (owner of Cartoon Network that broadcasts Adult Swim) has to pony up more than 8 hundred thou for this scare! Put a TV on people! Ooh, wow, a light up block man giving you the finger is terroism! Wake up and don't be stupid. I think it was a creative promotonal campaign but just not in the right areas. They could have had it at clubs and comic book stores better. Now a bunch of adults must be asking themselves 'What the frell is a Teen Hunger Aqua Force?'

Frisky Dingo

Watch Frisky Dingo on Cartoon Network's Adult Swim Sunday nights at 12:30am, made by the folks who made Sea Lab 2021 and the drawings are actually better. Animation is about the same and some voices have returned. It is extremely funny. The show's original name was to be called "Whiskey Tango". There was already a band using the name, so to prevent legal action, the show's name was changed to "Whiskey Tango Six". However, this name was not legally distinct, so the creators jokingly said they would call the show "Frisky Dingo", and the name stuck. About a stuck up Batman-ish Xander Crews (best name ever) who plans on selling his Awesome X image and wants Killface to be his official villian to make toys but Killface wants revenge on Xander Crews and his crew wants revenge on Awesome-X. I like Killface's black british cyborgian assistant Syd.

Kudos to Adult Swim

After I and lots of people complained about Saved by the Bell, Adult Swim changed their logo to 'The Crappy 80's Live Action TV Show Network." Lol Well kudos to them. Hmm, but if they are going to do it anyway (they have no choice. they can't just cancel doing something they said they would) but I do hope they don't plan to do something like this again. If its going to crappy 80's live action shows... Punky Brewster can't be far behind. Yes I am aware I used to word 'but' twice in the same sentence.

Whaa? Saved by the Bell on Adult Swim?

No....

just no.

For those who don't know Adult Swim has announcing a special two-week run of Saved by the Bell starting April 17, I suppose monday-friday, thank god it is just two weeks. I admit I do like it but better mornings on TBS. but TBS shows them all the epies, including early Hayley Mills eps, the movies split up in eps, vacation eps with Leah Remini eps, and College Years on fridays. Strangely enough the New Class doesn't repeat anywhere. Thank god those dreadful eps with Screech as Mr. Belling's assistant.
