Greek Series Finale

I can't beleive they are ending the show I think because ABC Family probably doesn't have enough money. 4 seasons and only 2 years have passed by? You'd think the series would last longer? It was a really touching episode and I really wanted to cry. They teared down the Kappa Tau house. It was a touching episode. But Rusty and Asheligh? Still weird. I am glad they didn't pair up Dale and Rebecca. So in the end, Cappie and Casey drive away together, Casey to D.C. and Cappie graduated. Evan still in Law School. Rusty, Dale, and Rebecca still in school. Asheligh moved out of Rusty's house and has a job and in a relationship with Rusty. Calvin and his boyfriend Heath are to move to India. We are to assume that Heath graduated.

Community couldn't get 'Animal House' theme cleared

On Tonight's "Community," did they college movie parodies. Abed wanted to check off a list, at the end there was a food fight with a cool song but according to the closed caption it said 'Animal House.' Apparently, they planned to use the Animal House song and couldn't get the copyright rights. Aaron Hill (Beaver from "Greek") guest stars in the credits as a Pizza Delivery guy in a porn cliche.

Greek Cliffhanger?

Tonight's season finale for Greek's season 2/second half of season 1, we were left with a cliffhanger. The frats and sorority are finally turning their pledges to actives. Rusty and his confederate uber-religious roommate said their 'see you laters.' Rusty felt like he had to prove himself to be an active and went to the Omega Chi house to get the paddle he paddled Evan with. Casey wrestled with leaving her new boyfriend Max as he is going to a graduate college in California and she got the opportunity of a lifetime, an internship with a senator in D.C. Frannie made a surprise. She is making her own sorority and the cliffhanger ends with Rebecca's choice: Frannie's sorority or stay. Poor Ashleigh and Casey. We all know her answer. Not much of a cliffhanger.

Greek Episode 27 Review

Good ep! Thinking his friend Evan cheated on Frannie, Calvin did cheat on Michael with Heath. And Heath being emotional and hopeful was refreshing. As he just seems like a background character when not interacting with Calvin. I do like that he doesn't act stereotypical gay with his brothers. I love how the gay characters are complicated. Last week, Michael has been corrupted by Evan for money and hasn't told Calvin. Now Calvin has cheated on Michael.

Cappie jealous of Max was priceless. I never really noticed Cappie never met Max, so now that they did, it was awesome. I also liked the line Cappie said to Dale, "Chip. I knew it was one of them."

They give Lizzie a not-so-awesome but nice makeover. Charisma Carpenter is an excellent presence, in her young age, she brings some gravitas to the show. Yes, her role is very close to her previous roles. But she does she does good and she does it well.

Episode 25
"Gays, Ghosts and Gamma Rays"

I love Greek but I don't like the title. I don't like 'Gays' as a phrase, nor to be use as something 'different.' Rusty has a Kappa Tau test and has to remember facts about all the actives. He digs about one member's true identity and thinks it is Cappie. Casey likes Max (Michael Rady above), Rusty's R.A. Michael says Calvin doesn't have enough gay friends, so he makes Calvin go to a gay bar called Gentleman's Choice, which is an ongoing joke throughout the episode. Ashleigh feels left out and Calvin invites her to accompany them and then Ashleigh feels sorry for Rebecca, who has broken up with Cappie and invites her too, in hopes that she gets cheered up by gay men.

This episode was all about how men and women relate to each other. I have heard of gender studies but no phallus class. The episode is the most transparent and guessable. I guess that Max's girlfriend was dead. And that Joshua Whopper was really a computer program. And that Calvin was going to end up seeing Heath again. There is one interesting scene where Michael talks to his three gay friends into making Rebecca happier and three hot guys play Rock-Paper-Scissors and lumper over to them and be a gay stereotype with 'girlfriends.' I liked that, but it was a bit tacked on, but it is a good point that Ashleigh is completely cluless about gay men. Talking about cluelessness, Casey tries to play the 'game' and the rules with Max but he doesn't play with them, also that he hurt because his girlfriend died of cancer. Michael Rady (The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants) is a perfect doppleganger for Zachary Levi from "Chuck." (They are actually only a year apart!)

Also, there is a lively debate between Michael and Calvin that Judd Apatow's movies are a bit homophobic but I actually find him pretty pro-Gay. I think the whole 'You know how I know you're gay?' joke is a parody of homophobia, a statement of how silly it all is. And all the straight male characters bond, without question of their sexuality.

"Freshman Daze"

I love "Greek" so much that I have skipped the so-called 'higher class' "Gossip Girl," and was garnered a gift for watching. This season, Cassie is broken up with Evan and Cappie is now with Rebecca, who had a tryst with Evan and Cassie forgave him due to the urging of her big sister Frannie. There is now a Greek Ball, which hasn't occurred in two years, Rusty (Cassie's brother) is curious to why Cappie doesn't want to go to this 'testicle.' Last night's episode flashed-back to when Cassie, Ashleigh, Cappie, and Evan were freshmen. Evan and Cappie were best friends and roommates. Cassie was innocent and sweet and met Ashleigh. Evan wanted to get into ΚΤΓ (Kappa Tau Gamma) and wanted Cappie to join, who wasn't so into joining a frat. When they get to the frat, everyone falls in love with Cappie, not so much with Evan--who they dubbed 'Bing.' Evan didn't feel that much into it, so he went to his current frat ΩΧΔ (Omega Chi Delta). Cappie felt betrayed because it was Evan's idea to go Greek.

All the while, Cappie meets Cassie and dates her. At a karaoke night, Cappie sings and ignores Cassie, Cassie tells Evan she had only seen him twice in the past six months and he is Cappie's roommate. He takes her home and then Cappie was about to dedicate a song to her and see the two leave together. The night of the ball, Cassie waits for Cappie for more than an hour. Cassie goes to Evan and Cappie's roommate and finds Evan, who wasn't going to the ball. Feeling sorry for her and making it up to her, Evan offers to take her to the ball. Frannie gets mad and goes to Kappa Tau, to bitch Cappie out and rip a new one for The Beaver and that stoner leader guy (forgot his name)--making him cry. Cappie was playing video games and completely forgot. Cappie arrives to the ball to find Cassie and Evan dancing together. Of course one things to another and they have a fight and that causes such a roar that there is no Greek Ball until the current time.

Rusty tracks this info down through google and such and after much bother, he convinces Cappie to tell him. In present time, Cassie is still bothered by Frannie, who she accepted back into the sorority ZBZ to get rid of the perky Lizzie. When Cappie arrives to pick up Rebbecca at the sorority house, Frannie comments on him being two years too late. Cappie was actually dressed much better than he was two years back. Cassie finds out what she didn't know from Cappie about Frannie. She comes around and invites sadsack Frannie to the new ball. So, it was funny to see everyone's hairstyles and wigs, the wigs didn't look so bad. Cappie actually looked innocent and younger. Evan had awful facial hair, Cassie had longer hair, so did The Beaver (that he looked like a Musketeer). What I love about the episode is the Evan-Cappie relationship balances with Rusty-Calvin relationship, in that they are friends in different fraternities. The flashback was sweet and on point, just great writing. I was wondering why Rusty didn't ask Cassie about the ball, but I guess it was because of time--they didn't even have one of their trademark end of episode talks. It was also good to see bitchy Frannie vs. the new sadsack.

Greek Episode 13 Review

"Highway to the Discomfort Zone"

Rebecca and Cappie decide to go public with their relationship and Cappie decides to tell Casey and of course she doesn't take it well. Two episodes ago, Rusty's roommate Dale offered to 'straighten' out Calvin. Dale offers it again and Calvin tells him he isn't interested. But Calvin decides to humor Dale. Of course, Calvin goes through the regular "You think I chose to be gay" relay, but thankfully briefly. The show is creative, with Dale--being an unique character and being true to people I know, or exaggerated. Dale can come off as evil or stupid, but they way they do it, it is not so bad. So Calvin finds himself at Dale's purity club and they stare at him because they haven't "seen a Gay in the wild." It can come off as offensive, but again, they are just ignorant. Calvin likes the prospect of a group that talks about their feelings and don't have sex with women.

When it is good to bad, when Calvin looks at an underwear catalog and Dale shoves a rotten banana in his face. When Calvin does the classic bible scripture debate and Dale left, upset when Calvin insinuated that he might be a sinner. The funny thing is that Dale tries to get Calvin into women, but he hasn't ever got lucky into women. He tricks Dale and have him think he might be gay. Dale gets offended of course. Calvin returns the rotten banana and leaves. Calvin returns to Dale's room, where he tries to take out everything he had that was gay. He then stapled down the 'gay is not a choice' and Dale refuses to believe it. Calvin just tells him to accept that he is gay and happy about it. Calvin then tells him they will talk about the confederate flag he has and Dale decides to keep one of his things.

Meanwhile, Casey decides to show off a hot guy Jonah (Jerad Anderson) that works at an animal shelter and gives baths to dogs sans shirt to Cappy and Rebecca. When they are drinking at the bar, that snoopy chick that is from sorority comes after them for their IDs. She becomes mostly enamored with Jonah. Jonah is mostly interested in animals, but Casey doesn't pay him any mind, until she makes out with him to make the others jealous. She offers him a drink but he is against because he has to drive home... so she just gets yet another beer for herself. The next morning to wakes up naked to a shirtless Jonah to find herself awaken to Jonah's mother. She is seemingly okay with him having sex. And then she gets the shock of her life when she finds out he is 16 and not in college... yet. Hot guy. Casey tells him to call her in five years. His bedroom was covered with baseball stuff. Casey then does the walk of shame back to the sorority house. The episode ends with one of Rusty and Casey's patented talks.

The title comes from a reference to the film Top Gun.

Seeing Double: Monica Keena and Spencer Grammer

Monica Keena ("Dawson's Creek" and Freddie vs Jason) and Spencer Grammer ("Greek" and 'As the World Turns") look so much alike. Am I wrong?

Greek Finale Review

I love the character of Jen K., first of all. Let me tell you that I really didn't expect much from the show "Greek." I thought it was going to be another party harty--just dumb jokes and drinking, nothing special. But it is a pretty good soap. Even though it doesn't really go in the down and dirty details butt it does give an idea of what Fraternities and Sororities. That their activities entails more than just rush week and parties.

What is interesting is that the lead geek, protagonist, Rusty got a girlfriend the first season. You might be saying that he is the protagonist, of course he will get a girlfriend. But she is pretty interesting, not what expected. You would think she was nice and nothing much to her. People would find it suspicious about her and surprise, surprise, in the final episode she turns out to be a traitor. A Journalist, working 'under cover.' I like her because she is sweet and truthful, and had Rusty learn a lot about himself. It shakes up the whole gang and tears thing between Rusty and his sister Casey. Rusty brings up that Evan cheated on her and she forgave him.

When Frannie said 'Can't Remember anything' Reagan joke was a little too over the edge. She could have said 'Rumsfeld' or something.

Even though most of the characters are annoying, they come off as endearing, very much as the characters from "Nip/Tuck" and "Everwood." Well, the least annoying is Rusty and Cappie. But Casey is pretty irritating, but you just have to care for her. I definitely enjoyed the gay storylines. Calvin may be a bit stuck up character but his storyline was very truthful. That he didn't know if he had a relationship or not with Heath. Heath cheats on Calvin and he can't figure out the non-relationships. How Ashleigh could never figure out that Calvin was gay, I thought he told her. And Calvin and his frat house's reaction was heart-breaking.
