I love "Sex and the City" as much as every other gay guy, now that the Sex and The City movie is in the works, I must ask, why? What is there left hanging? But really thinking about it, a female-leaded rated R comedy motion picture would be really great and revolutionary. And they can get more down and dirty than the television series. But I don't know how they will be ever to do this plotline wise if most of the characters are attached and not single and swinging like in the beginning of the show. Well, we all know that hasn't stop them before.Explaining the title: I am forty-something Latino who has a fondness for the Japanese culture and speak Spanglish--Spanish and English. Some people say "Span-English" so I mixed it with "Engrish," which is how some Japanese pronounce English.

Clicking My Heels
Today is all Disney. Yes, sorry.
But this is really interesting! I loved Disney's Return to Oz from the 80's with Fairuza Balk. The designs for the movie were beautiful. While people love the 1930's Judy Garland Wizard of Oz, I love the original books from Frank Baum and his vision. Return of Oz, even though not being exactly literal to the books (it meshed together two books and merged wannabe witch Mombi and the multiple head queen) but it remained true to them--much like Alfonso Cuaron with Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban.
Anyhoo, I knew there is a lot of hidden Return of Oz stuff in Disney resorts but didn't know Walt Disney himself got rights to 11 of the books in the 50's and actually planned movies, animated films, theme park attraction, etc. In fact, 'The Rainbow Road to Oz' with Annette Funicello turned into 'Babes in Toyland' with Annette Funicello. He had plans of Oz-theme part in the Storybook Land Canal Boat ride, it was scrapped but Oz did end up in a way in Disneyland Paris, Return of Oz is still in its version of the Storybook Land Canal Boat.

My dream would be a remake of Wizard of the Oz. Well, to start all over again. All this interest in fantasy movies (Bridge to Terabithia, The Chronicles of Narnia, Eragon) I am surprised a movie isn't in the works. Most people I have talked to doesn't want a movie. The public consciousness only has the 30's Oz film in their head so they bored with that and makes their own variations of it. Evidence, the new Oz miniseries about the Tin Woodsman coming up for the Sci-Fi channel and that canceled Tim Burton pilot about a modern housewife stranded in Oz. There is also work on McGee's Oz, which is like the twisted Alice. Production of the Oz game is on hold, McGee says that there is game publishing houses have a lack of interest in new ideas and products without established market names. In 2004, McGee was set to write the script for the Oz films, which is said to be a trilogy that will be produced by Disney and Jerry Bruckheimer. Who knows if it will pull through.
Does Disney like.... own everything?
I know I mentioned Disney today but with Underdog the movie is coming out, which is a cartoon that was produced by Gamma Studios through the Dancer Fitzgerald Sample advertising agency and General Mills in the 70's. A while ago, Inspector Gadget was made into a Disney movie and it was produced by DiC. Mr. Magoo was owned by United Artists but Disney made a movie. Also, George of the Jungle was owned by Jay Ward/ABC but somehow Disney got the rights to do the movie. Rocky & Bullwinkle that was owned by the same, but the movie was made by Universal Studios so boo. Jason Lee ("My Name is Earl") plays the voice of Shoeshine Boy/Underdog, in the trailers it sounds like Owen Wilson. But they picked a good voice, sounds great. Anyhoo, I understand that Disney bought them out but why do these people let Disney own it.Well the other side is that Disney might run out of their dumb movies based on their theme park rides because now Jungle Cruise is coming out as a movie. The only successful one has been Pirates of the Caribbean, one of four (Haunted Mansion, Country Bears, etc.) tries. It is exhausting.
Okay I admit it, I liked the Spice Girls
Maybe they will be more popular in the world. Now that Victoria's reality show is a bust, it is curious. You got to admit, even after 10 years people still call them by their 'spice' names. I saw Spice World in the theaters but snuck in to watch it. The only one that has remained in the spotlight was Victoria and Melanie C., she had a hit and has real talent but fell through.
