The rest of the Summer Box Office Predictions

I am glad that Ratatouille is number 1, critics highly doubted it would be a hit. Come on, it is Pixar. Pixar is smart, doing stories they want to do now. Animation is film making and people ages 4-27 feel Pixar directors as rock stars. Even though I thought Live Free or Die Hard was going to be #1 and that it surprised me that Fantastic Four made number one, it definitely is fitting in my theory that all these movies will just be a hit for one week. Sadly, my baby Knocked Up never made number one. So far, Ocean's Thirteen, Fantastic Four, and Evan Almighty were all just one hit wonders. So, my guess is that the Transformers will shine this Friday, then Harry Potter and the Order of Phoenix the next week and the week The Simpsons Movie comes out, it will just be for one week as well.

Yay! Everybody supports my Jem movie plea

Before I found out they were plans to make a 'Thundercats' movie and now 'He-Man' is back in production, I wrote a 'dream cast' on a live-action version of the 80's animated series. 'Jem' revolutionized the music videos in cartoons, which believe or not, there is still montages in animated children series. Anyhoo, there are a lot of fans that are itching for a live-action Jem as well. I am sure Story writer Christy Marx would be up for it if whoever still has the rights wake up and smells the money. Come on, honestly--like one of my fellow bloggers on BuzzSugar--'Bratz'? Come on, is this what we expect little girls to see at the movie theaters? Girl movies are still scarce... as much as chick flicks. Plus, this will attract moms, aunts, uncles everywhere as well. And if they do decide to make it.. they would be idiots not hire Christy Marx to write it.

"So there ya have it folks, Thundercats are on the way with Voltron, He-Man, and Transformers! Now lets hope for some Jem."

Ultra Entertainment Blog
"However, Transformers, G.I. Joe and He-Man... but no 'She-Ra' (on her own, outside of the He-Man movie)? No 'Jem and the Holograms'?! Where are my '80s ladies? It's obnoxious that there's a Bratz movie but no movie based on 'Jem and the Holograms.'"

Kwik-E Marts takes over

For The Simpsons Movie, 7 Eleven changes their look into Kwik-E Mart. This is freaking awesome. The idea grew out of conversations between Fox and 7-Eleven’s advertising agency. 7-Eleven are the ones spending the money, somewhere in the single millions. "We thought if you really want to do something different, the idea of actually changing stores into Kwik-E-Marts was over the top but a natural," said Bobbi Merkel, an executive for Freshworks, 7-Eleven's advertising agency. FreshWorks is a unit of Omnicom Group Inc. "It shows they get the joke." The U.S. locations where a 7-Eleven store was transformed into a Kwik-E-Mart are New York City; Chicago; Dallas; Denver; Burbank and Los Angeles; Henderson, Nevada; Orlando, Florida; Mountain View, Calif.; Seattle; and Bladensburg, Md.

I hope they reach Miami. In some cases, 7-Eleven has contracted manufacturers of products similar to the ones in the show to make their Kwik-E-Mart counterparts. Malt-O-Meal, the cereal maker from Northfield, Minnesota, will conjure up a recipe for KrustyO’s, for example. In others, existing products will simply be renamed. One flavor of 7-Eleven’s own Slurpee will be sold as “WooHoo! Blue Vanilla” Squishee for the month.

True or False: Betsy Ross and the American Flag

[Above was painted in 1950 by Walter Haskell Hinton.]

I am fully aware that my blog is seen to people all over the world so I will try to explain things.
On the Friday edition of The Late Show with Jay Leno, Jay Leno did his famous 'Jay-Walking' and asked random Americans on the street some basic questions on America's Independence Day. Wednesday is what is commonly known in the states as 'the 4th of July.' He asked the audience and they got all the answers right: Who was the famous general of the war for Independence? (George Washignton), What year did we declare our independence? (1776) Who did we get our independence from? (Britain) Who sewed the American flag? (Betsy Ross) Well, needless to say no one could answer the questions.

Now, I checked on Betsy Ross and it turns out to highly disputed that she was the one to sew the flag. Now, a lot of people don't trust Wikipedia, but there are a lot of urban legends. Especially about George Washington. There is a myth that his teeth were made of wood and that he chopped his dad's cherry tree when he was a kid. Now, it is said that is not true. That the cherry tree story was used as a analogy for that he could tell the truth. There is no evidence for this theory exists beyond Ross' descendants' much later recollections of what she told her family. Another woman, Rebecca Young, has also been credited as having made the first flag by later generations of her family. Betsy had told them, in June 1776, she received a visit from George Washington, George Ross and Robert Morris of the Continental Congress.--who dubbed themselves the "Committee of Three." She had met Washington through their mutual worship at Christ Church (and she had sewn buttons for him previously). They showed her a suggested design that was drawn up by Washington in pencil. The design had six-pointed stars, and Betsy, the family story goes, suggested five-pointed stars instead because she could make a five-pointed star in one snip. The flag was sewn from American grown hemp by Betsy in her parlor.

USflag.org says: "Congressman Francis Hopkinson seems most likely to have designed it, and few historians believe that Betsy Ross, a Philadelphia seamstress, made the first one." The easiest answer--which country we got our independence from--I expected everyone to know, it is hilarious that no one knows.

Now here are some facts:
-In 1778, General George Washington marked the Fourth of July with a double ration of rum for his soldiers and an artillery salute.
-After fighting broke out in April 1775, Washington appeared at the Second Continental Congress in military uniform, signaling that he was prepared for war. Although he didn't explicitly seek the office of commander and even claimed that he was not equal to it, there was no serious competition.
