They are showing episodes of "Wolf Lake" today on the Sci-Fi channel, "Wolf Lake" was a show on UPN about werewolves starring Lou Diamond-Phillips and Paul Wesley. I have seen bit and pieces of the show, but never really paid attention until now. The episode "Leader of the Pack" is an interesting episode, it is about an important arc. The character Sherman Blackstone tells some people a story that happened, about a big event in which two robbers were about to um.. rob. The two robbers seem to care for each other, John played by Andy Thompson and Eddie played by John Cassini. One even proposed to the other, that they should marry. The other said, "What would mom think?" They ended up being brothers, I found that interesting that two guest characters, that weren't portrayed in a negative light, a bit for comedy but not also sympathetic. I like mentioning this because it has not been mentioned at all. Maybe it has been commented on a board but now it can't be found. Anyhoo, I found it interesting, the two actors had good chemistry. But sadly, in the end, they were eaten by the werewolf Vivian Cates (the talented actress Sharon Lawrence).
Explaining the title: I am thirty-something Latino who has a fondness for the Japanese culture and speak Spanglish--Spanish and English. Some people say "Span-English" so I mixed it with "Engrish," which is how some Japanese pronounce English.

The Principal's Office "Dirty Dancing" Viral Video
I know this happened in January but this recently came to my attention. I love the Principal's Office, when the show came out, I knew it was going to be great. But I had missed this episode and recently came to my attention because of "The Soup" re-run. I am talking about the clip where high school seniors Logan and Brandon having a discussion about grind dancing at a dance with their Kalama High School Vice Principal Nate Salisbury. Since the episode aired Jan. 8, the clip has received over 300,000 hits on YouTube and was featured on “The Soup” on E! Network and VH1’s “Best Week Ever.”Anyway I got to say I was positively surprised from what the two boys said to the Daily News interview. Logan and Brandon say their lives haven't changed other than comments on their myspace; friends and family only have good stuff to say and their friends and family say they acted the same way they always act. I believe it was not scripted and that is how they always act. I applaud them having a mature attitude about touching guys that doesn't mean its sexual or them being gay, even though they were immature with their principal. I think it is positive sign that they are not homophobic and can care about each other and assert their heterosexuality in a positive way. They know the truth that they are straight and that's all that matters. Did I also mentioned that they were basketball and football players and part of a leadership camp? I have hope for the future.

Adam Lambert's sexuality in Entertainment Weekly
Adam Lambert, American Idol's 100th season contestant is on the cover of this week's Entertainment Weekly magazine. There is an asterisk on the cover saying "*And not just because he might be gay" and there is an emphasis on his sexuality. The article is written by Mark Harris, who is gay. He says, "Many readers will say 'Why are we even discussing this? Why does it matter whether he's gay or not?' It doesn't. Or rather, it shouldn't. Except that unlike his counterparts, who commodify their lives on their sleeves, Adam isn't talking about it." Why should it matter if he is out and proud? And why isn't he? When people ask about his sexuality, Adam Lambert goes around in circles with the answer, very prepared. Gay contestants are nothing new, but they never won and Clay Aiken never won and he wasn't out at the time. It is interesting that Entertainment Weekly did this article, it is quite brave to do so. Many may criticize it but I applaud them.Wednesday, April 22
Miss USA/Perez Hilton Controversy

This is my take on the controversy, as much I am a fighter of gay marriage and the rights, Miss California has the American right to speak her mind. But we are not all that sure that her answer was the main reason she did not win. Perez Hilton feels really deeply about this, I honestly believe he shouldn't have even asked that question. He KNEW what her answer would be. And to judge her on her answer (in a bias view) is not right, if that was the case. We don't know for sure. Well, Perez thinks he does, and I think he is being a bit bias in this particular situation. I think this, like many others things, have been blown out of proportion.

Dustin Lance Black’s Oscar Acceptance Speech Gets Censored In Asian Broadcasts

Asian satellite TV network STAR, owned by Rupert Murdoch, admits that it censored the acceptance speeches of "Milk" writer Dustin Lance Black and star Sean Penn in re-broadcasts, eliminating sound when the words "gay" or "lesbian" were spoken, because it had "a responsibility to take the sensitivities and guidelines of all our markets into consideration," spokeswoman Jannie Poon told the Associated Press. STAR reaches more than 300 million viewers in 53 nations. His acceptance speech was censored in fifty different Asian nations by pan-Asian satellite TV network STAR, which is owned by Rupert Murdoch’s News Corporation.
Here’s Dustin’s uncensored speech in its entirety:
“This was was not an easy film to make. First off, I have to thank Cleve Jones and Anne Kronenberg and all the real-life people who shared their stories with me. Gus Van Sant, Sean Penn, Emile Hirsch, Josh Brolin, James Franco and our entire cast, my producers Dan Jinks and Bruce Cohen, everyone at Groundswell and Focus for taking on the challenge of telling this life-saving story. When I was 13-years-old, my beautiful mother and my father moved me from a conservative Mormon home in San Antonio, Texas to California, and I heard the story of Harvey Milk. And it gave me hope. It gave me the hope to live my life. It gave me the hope one day I could live my life openly as who I am and then maybe even I could even fall in love and one day get married.
I wanna thank my mom, who has always loved me for who I am even when there was pressure not to. But most of all, if Harvey had not been taken from us 30 years ago, I think he’d want me to say to all of the gay and lesbian kids out there tonight who have been told that they are less than by their churches, by the government or by their families, that you are beautiful, wonderful creatures of value and that no matter what anyone tells you, God does love you and that very soon, I promise you, you will have equal rights federally, across this great nation of ours. Thank you. Thank you. And thank you, God, for giving us Harvey Milk.”

RuPaul's Drag Race
Join RuPaul, the world's most famous drag queen, as the host, mentor and judge for "RuPaul's Drag Race," Logo's new reality series which will be the ultimate in drag queen competitions. The top 9 drag queens in the U.S. will vie for drag stardom as RuPaul, in full glamazon drag, will reign supreme in all judging and eliminations, while the debonair Mr. RuPaul will help guide the contestants as they prepare for each challenge. Contestants include the nation's hottest most glamorous drag queens, including one voted in by you online!
Each week, joining RuPaul on the judges panel, are fashion journalist and best-selling author Merle Ginsberg and Project Runway breakout star and designer Santino Rice, plus a bevy of celebrity guest judges including: Bob Mackie (Designer), Michelle Williams (Destiny's Child), Lucy Lawless (actress), Maria Conchita Alonso (actress/singer), Robin Antin (creator of The Pussycat Dolls), Debra Wilson (Mad TV), Jenny Shimizu (model/actress), Tori Spelling (actress), Dean McDermott (actor), Howard Bragman (Author of "Where's My Fifteen Minutes?") and Frank Gatson (choreographer). Each cast member must embody the charisma, uniqueness, nerve and talent that made RuPaul an international drag superstar. The judges will determine the bottom two contestants of the week. Those contestants then compete in a show-stopping battle-royal "lip-synch for your life" performance that will determine if they will "shante" and stay and who will "sashay" away until one is crowned America's next Drag Queen Superstar!
It airs on Logo but VH1 showed an episode today, it has been praised by Entertainment Weekly. RuPaul, who was hilarious in Another Gay Sequel: Gays Gone Wild, does her best Tim Gunn in men's clothes and also her best Tyra Banks superbitch. Amazingly enough, when the gang starts, they aren't bitching to each other, they are actually quite tame. And like with any drag queen, they all look completely different in their regular man form than their drag form. Of course, there is the stand-out hotness, the Asian one, the bitch, the Latina bad accent macho-looking one, the bad accent one, the involved-in-herself one, the old wise one and the nerd. Rebecca Glasscock's regular man form is super hot. I think this is the only project RuPaul has enjoyed, because this is what he knows and he reveals in it and he can bring it to the world.
Some of the show is definitely uber-into gay and drag culture, so for the layperson, I dunno if they will feel included. In order to be more relatable, the audience sees the gang in their man forms. These bitches are so much more talented than the Project Runway bitches in forming an outfit on the fly. Now, people can say that the show is ridiculous and dumb, but this is bringing real reality to people: Drag Queens, they are out there and you got to see them. I think they are often shoved away, even in gay culture and they need to be expose for the brave ones they are. I am so proud that big stars like Lucy Lawless, Dean McDermott and Tori Spelling are on this show.Saturday, January 10
Dike joke in SNL
The opening sketch featured Jason Sudeikis as Rod Blagojevich being interview by Abbie Elliott (Daughter of Chris Elliott!) as Rachel Maddow and now that Jason is playing more jackasses, he says, "I feel like a dutch boy with his finger in a dike." And he made two nods towards Rachel and saying that she would know he was talking about. Crude but funny.

Yay! John Stewart defending Gay Marriage against Huckabee
John Stewart was tough on Mike Huckabee over his book saying that everyone is equal. He compared it and asked if Hispanic people shouldn't vote, he said they should vote and then he asked why gay people can't marry. Mike Huckabee brought up marriage not changing since bible days, John Stewart brought up that marriage has evolved, it used to that men could marry many women and women were considered as property. Mike Hukabee said that marriage is about having a penis and a vagina in order to make babies. What he said was often: Religion is more of a choice than being gay; that Religion is a lifestyle! Awesome! "Semantics is cold comfort when it comes to humanity." Mike Huckabee brought up one good point that just because you are against gay marriage doesn't mean that you are homophobe or filled with hate. John Stewart brought up the good point that he standing behind his wall of institution and not bringing up a good reason. Why? Why? Thank you, John. You got it. And funny enough, I still don't find you sexy. I think you would consider that a compliment!

My take on the Gay Marriage Ban
So here is my take, I was all for 'No on Amendment 2' in Florida which defines marriage in the traditional sense and it was passed. I had no idea about California, I thought I was safe on that side but unfortunately Amendment 8 was approved and now there is a ban on gay marriage but I know my people will not take it without a fight. There is no so far 3 lawsuits against the amendment and plenty groups are fired up and fighting back. Yay for them and I am right with them. This is not the end, this is just the beginning. If we can have Obama for president, I can have my husband one day.
I worked as a poll worker/quality assurance specialist in the election on Tuesday and I had to read in Spanish to the non-English speaking voters that required help, and it was hard to see them vote 'yes' on the amendment but I took an oath and had to take it with stride. This is the rare times I mention something private about my life on my blog, my win was that my mother, who I have fought with for years about me being who I am, voted 'no' on the amendment and that touches me so much. So much, without words to express but I have tried.

Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist review
The creators of this movie had said they wanted to portray teenagers how they really interact and talk. Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist serves just that. Based on a book by David LevithanRachel Cohn. Director Peter Sollett drew from his own experiences when making the film. The film takes place over one night in Manhattan, where a number of New Jersey teenagers have commuted in for the night—something Sollett was familiar with and often did himself. The movie of course stars Michael Cera (Superbad, Juno, "Arrested Development") and Kat Dennings (The 40 year-old Virgin), set and filmed in New York city.
Spoiler-Free
It's a good movie and worth a look!
Spoiler Alert
Cera plays Nick, the usual M.O. for Cera, a lovable geek, but he does it so well. He conveys so much emotions and thoughts with his face, in one look. Nick has been dumped by Tris (Alexis Dziena), who looks like a doll muppet. I saw this movie with my friends but there were lots of teenagers in the movie, the majority who were girls. Just like seeing a Pixar movie and the little kids won't shut up, the teens wouldn't. Plenty of straight guys shouted out that Tris is hot, maybe too hot by Nick, maybe that's what she believed. Nick makes these mix CDs for her with awesome cover work and she doesn't appreciate it. She goes to a private catholic school where Norah gets the leftover CDs. Her best friend Caroline (Ari Gaynor) is more friends with Tris that Norah is, Norah and Tris are more like frienmies. When I first saw the trailer, I thought Caroline was played by Tatum O' Neal, I thought she was like a sister or aunt Norah had to take care of it. But no, Ari Gaynor is a delightful newcomer.
Nick is in a band of the genre of queercore, which I don't know if it was mentioned in the actual movie because it was hard to hear with the audience. Queercore is a subcategory of Punk. Basically he is the only straight guy in a group of gay guys. Dev (Rafi Gavron) is the lead singer and both he and Thom (Aaron Yoo) are Nick's best friends and try to encourage him to get out of his funk. They all love this band called Where's Fluffy? and throughout this movie, they search for this elusive band who will perform in a exclusive location. Where's Fluffy? is bunny related. Rafi Gavron is British and his accent slips here and there, his character Dev has a delightful love interest in Lothatio "The Beefy Guy" (Jonathan B. Wright), who doesn't speak much but is a important plot point. Who doesn't speak much either is Tris' new guy Gary (Zachary Booth). Needless to say, Norah tries to show off Tris and kisses Nick, without knowing he si her Nick.
Nick's friends love Norah so they help her get with Nick. It has been pointed out that it takes a gay guy to give a mini-makeover to Norah, but it doesn't feel like 'a gay man is telling a woman how to dress.' The gay characters in this movie are treated with respect and are just not like the flashy goofy gay guy friends. Watching this movie in a audience of teenagers was interesting, when Dev gave Norah a bra from his collection of women's clothing, a girl screamed out. "Oh! He's gay! Oh wow!" Like she didn't notice they were in a gay band or that earlier nick said it was hard being Straight in a funny in-joke. "Guys, you don't know how hard it is being straight." Dev and Thom looked at each other knowingly. I also like how Dev picked up Lothario, he asked Nick to ask his name and he said it would be whatever he wanted it be. In fact, everyone in the movie was hitting on Nick. There is too SNL-ers in the movie: Seth Meyers, one of the guys who mistakes Nick's car for a Taxi and Andy Samberg as a creppy bum who hits on Nick.
Also through the movie we heard a girl say, "I wish I had a gay friend." Like if we are handbags, an accessory.
So the bandmates offer to take the drunk Caroline home but loose her. So the plot becomes Nick and Norah looking for Caroline and also for Where's Fluffy? As Nick and Norah get to know each other, half-way through the movie in comes Norah's ex Tal (Jay Baruchel). It is hard to understand or even appericate their short but cool names because of the noise in the audience. Jay Baruchel, who played a nerd in "Undeclared" and Knocked Up, plays a total jerk in this movie. Here is a big spoiler, Norah is the daughter of a record producer and Tal still has a hold over her as they are 'friends with benefits' but in the end, what breaks the straw on the camel's back is Tal wanting Norah to give her father his demo CD and wants her to get rid of his club bill. And there is one infamous scene that makes the whole crowd go wild. It starts with a woman in the bathroom. No cup. And it ends/continues with a peice of gum that makes it from person to person. The scene itself was so disgusting I could not look at the screen for probably three or five minutes.
Also, John Cho makes a small cameo in the movie, he is best known as Harold of Harold and Kumar go to White Castle. Funny enough, Aaron Yoo auditioned for that role.
So Nick and Norah are both drawn to their exes and in the end, you want them to get together and you know they will, because it is Hollywood, but it doesn't matter about it. It is a sweet smart movie. It doesn't make any of the exes into full-blown villains. Sure Tris and Tal do villainous things, the whole audience cheers when Nick leaves Tris in mid-dancing tease to go to Norah and when he window wipes her kiss on his windshield. Also, there is a subplot about Norah not be able to get her orgasm. The communication and body language between characters are interesting too, they feel real authentic. Now, one problem I have with this movie is that it happens all in one night and acts like Nick and Norah are meant for each other, but it can almost be a one night stand! They only know each other for one day. It would have been nice to see how they progress after a year or so. There's always a sequel. or maybe this movie is too perfect to have one.

Gay couple in new FOX Space show
For the topic of male-on-male couple in the new FOX show Virtuality, TV Guide says "Sci-Fi Goes Gay." 'Gay' has always been in 'Sci-Fi.' Come on, Xena and Gabrielle, Willow & Tara, etc. I appreciate their enthusiasm but it makes it sound corny. And the way they describe the characters... 'emotional' Manny and 'more centered' Val. It makes it sound more like the stereotypes expected of masculine and feminine. Anyhoo, the show will start out as a two-hour movie in 2009 about a 10-year mission with 12 passengers. It is true Manny and Val are the 'first gays in space.' Manny is played by Jose Pablo Cantillo and Val is played by Gene Farber. I appreciate the publicity for such a couple but FOX sci-fi shows don't ever last that long. Remember "Firefly"?io9
AfterElton
UPDATE: The two-hour pilot episode aired as a movie on June 26, 2009 but the show wasn't picked up.
Kevin in Str8 Kiss in "Brothers and Sisters"
TV Guide reports that on "Brothers and Sisters," sibling Kevin Walker (Matthew Rhys) will be seen kissing his sister-in-law Julia (Sarah Jane Morris). He is now happily married to Scotty. "We're all happy that Matthew got to switch it up," co-star Emily VanCamp has said. At hearing this, I don't think it is a threat to his sexual orientation. It is said that Kevin will be 'on heavy meds' and a hint that leads to the kissing, "It'll have something to do with the sperm Kevin donated last season to help Julia and brother Tommy conceive." I think it would speak true to the situation, whatever it is. Just because a gay guy kisses a woman, it doesn't mean it isn't an honest portrayal of gay people.TV Guide mentioned GLAAD, in maybe having a problem with this, but I think a more outrage is the cover article with Robert Sean Leonard and Hugh Laurie. The cover says 'Bromantic' (which I believe is more platonic than anything), which is fine, but when asked 'Can this bromance be saved?' Leonard instantly related this with homosexuality, which makes me think he doesn't know what he is talking about. And then after Laurie tries salvaging it, Leonard dares to say the dreaded "Not that there's anything wrong with that." harking the old Seinfeld joke, where yes, they do consider there is something wrong with it. So disappointing some guys still don't get it.

Spike Feresten and his Straight Talk Bus
Spike Feresten's show on Saturday, he talked about the Republican party caucus, he actually went to it with his own 'Straight Talk Express' bus... for gay republicans. While dumb, it was pretty funny that people actually climbed inside his bus. He took people on a 'tour' talking about other gay republicans... even a guy dressed up as Abraham Lincoln. They had two suit guys outside, one with his face blurred, the blurred face guy was backing up but the guy without his face blurred looked willing to go inside the bus.

Wonder Boy: A Blog post about Gender/Sexuality
I stumbled upon this great post on this blog Alex in Wonderland wondering why there is no Wonder Boy in the current Wonder Woman world. There was a Wonder Boy in 1940 that has been in Teen Titans but nothing more has been done. The post/article is really great, stuff I talk about alot about seperating gender and sexuality. For example, ahving a character that is gay but masculine, canceling out the belief sexuality and gender are tied together. The reason this brought up is the notion that people might believe a boy superhero following girls would be gay or less 'macho.' And this notion is brought out by our society. Here are some excerpts from the blog to entice you:
" Attempts to incorporate men into the adventuring cast of the Wonder Woman title are often hampered by their status as love interests. So, why no Wonder Boy? "
" Supergirl, Batgirl, Miss Martian, Speedy, Aquagirl…all of them have been at times accepted as legitimate heroines without questions to their femininity. "
" This move is important because it seeks to debunk the supposed link between sexuality and gender by maintaining that it is possible to be masculine and still desire men. "

Another Installment of: I'm Sick and Tired
I am sicked and tired of hearing how gay and lesbian people chose to be gay and that it is a 'preference.' Black people talk about their strife and long waiting for a Black president and they don't have to deal with people thinking they 'chose' to be black or that they weren't born black. Their counter? Gay people weren't. And the other thought is that gay people suffered a traumatic event or where sexually abused as a child to be 'changed.'

I am for repealing "Don't Ask Don't tell"
The majority of the politic stuff i bring up is from what I hear on The Daily Show but this issue has always been important to me. In fact, it is one of the points I look for Obama to change. While John McCain has felt "If it ain't break, don't fix it." Obama has expressed being opened to the idea of repealing it. Campaign spokesman Tommy Vietor issued a statement saying, "As President, Senator Obama would work in consultation with our military leaders to submit legislation to Congress repealing 'Don't ask, don't tell' and advocate for its passage."Congress has gathered to talk about it, it is their first hearing in 15 years. Patrick Murphy said something smart about gay and straight officers being professional. Another senator (Carol) said that in the future, they will be embarrassed about the hearing. Jon Stewart of course said, "why wait now?" Stewart also brilliantly compared the "what will happen to homphobes? will they be banished from the military because of the 'extreme San Fransisco' Leftists" to what happened to the racists when Jackie Robinson was admitted to the MLB.The reason I believe the policy should be removed or changed is because it is ridiculous. Yes, it doesn't matter if an officer is gay, but to remove them is ridiculous. Officers have to be professional, way can't GLBT officers be professional? They have been in the past. GLBT has been in the army for years, especially in WWII. WWII is the entire reason why there is a large GLBT population in San Fransisco! And it is shame that during WWII, gay people were sent to Concentration camps and at the same time, gay US officers that were 'outted' were put in prisoner camps and dishonorably discharged. A Zogby poll conducted for the Palm Center in 2006 surveyed 545 military personnel who have served in Iraq or Afghanistan, found that only 37% of the respondents opposed openly gay military service.
