Mark Ronson - 'Stop Me' Critique

This is Mark Ronson featuring Daniel Merriweather with "Stop Me." The video is beautifully shot but I think that the animated turquoise tears kills it a bit. The song is great without knowing the lyrics. The video is as said, beautifully shot, it could have been fine without the animation.

It's All Coming Back to Me: Eureeka's Castle outro

This brings me back, the Nick Jr. answer to Sesame Street was pretty good. Eureeka wasn't the most interesting character, there was plenty: Magellan, Batly, the cute little mouse and those two pink and orange monsters--Bog and Quagmire.

Paparazzi were videoing Kathy Griffin (who I was googling to see if she got any publicity) as she left the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel and shots were heard in the background and everyone ducked. The video is pretty freaky because there you see cute little Kathy and then it gets black and floor and screaming. The shooting happened around 2:20 a.m. at Hollywood Boulevard and Orange Drive, said Los Angeles Police Department Media Relations Officer April Harding. Two men got into a verbal altercation over a space in a nearby parking lot, Harding said. One guy got winged and seen in the video, he was very eloquent. This happened in early June, all reports were posted on June 15th. I wanna hear what Kathy thinks about what TMZ.com wrote.

Sierra Mist Commercials

Jim Gaffigan and Michael Ian Black are best known for the Sierra Mist Commercials. But when it started a few years ago, it mostly starred Nicole Sullivan, Debra Wilson and Aries Spears (Mostly in the background) from MADTV with Michael.


Then Jim joined in. Every commercial, they change, become new characters. In some cases, it seemed Michael and Nicole were a couple. Kathy Griffin and Tracy Morgan did two or three commercials.

Then most of the MADTV alumnis except for Debra disappeared and it was just Jim and Michael.

In a recent commercial, Jim and Michael appear with Nicole Randall Johnson (current MADTV member) and this other guy I can't remember his name.

Awesome Old Spice Commercial

This is an awesome commercial and I hope people can learn from this commercial. This is not sexuality. It is simply about a man complementing another man. Has nothing to do with sexuality. Somebody on YouTube called this garbage. I think garbage is homophobia, like that awful Snickers commercial that ran during the Super Bowl and was yanked after complaints. It was about two guys who accidentally kiss after eating a snickers bar and then try to prove their 'heterosexuality' by doing a very manly thing by removing chest hair... waxing anyone? Anyhoo, a normal caveman thing to do in the situation placed in this commercial would be to not mention anything or to smack the guy and call him a fag. The commercial is saying if someone has skin that good, it is worth mentioning. Forget about sexual orientation. Why does this always draw people to offending gay people?

Justin Timberlake's What Goes Around

Justin Timberlake's new video "What Goes Around Comes Around" features Scarlett Johansson (Home Alone 3) and Shawn Hatosy (In & Out) and the 'plot' was written by Nick Cassavetes (Alpha Dog). I like the song even though uses a cliche in the title which like everyone else I believe is about Britney. (Apparently a lot of people are visiting my blog for that little post I made about her, thanks for visiting! Hope you stick around) But the funniest thing is that the video's story almost has nothing to do with the song (sort of) and ends with a grim ending. Where the ending tries to be poignant and does a slow-mo, it comes off as trite. Now, there are rumors that JT is with Scarlett, if that is true, this is a rocky way to start out a relationship. Her playing a cheating and slightly suicidal girlfriend that meets her end. The whole thing comes out predictable. I still say his best video yet is "Cry Me a River."

Gerald Smashes a Tape

I smash a video tape (Digital Beta). I work in television like I always say and my genius clients wrote to 'destroy' a copy of a tape they sent me. So taking them literally and out of frustration, I destroy the tapes. I did this, this morning. Yes, this is me. In sunny Florida. My dog's name is Kiwi and yes, she is a girl--that is why her collar is pink. Enjoy!

Her Box is just for you

I just recently found out about this response song to the Digital Shot from SNL 'Dick in a Box' that is called 'My Box in a Box' which has a wonderful singer singing about her box in a box. It is hiralous, she has a beautiful voice, well written song. This must be the best catchy parody song ever. Some people have said stupid slurs on YouTube or that this song misses the point of the first one but I think its right up there. If the first one was about absurd presents to a Boy Band type song, this is a love letter with tonuge in cheek to a Lisa Loeb-type song (or maybe Jennifer Love Hewitt?). Kudos to her! Check out her just as funny blog.

Hunk in old Celine Dion music video

A old cheesy music video I used to like was Celine Dion's "It's All Coming Back To Me." The song itself is a remake of a Jim Steinman song inspired by Wuthering Heights. I used to like the guy in the music video but never knew who he was. A lot of the similarities between the other music videos of the remakes are listed here. Well here are some screencaps of the jilted lover who was killed in a motrocycle accident and then haunts Celine through mirrors and pictures. The guy looks younger than her and in one scene they look like mother and son.
